Ram Parivar: A Home for Champions
Ram Parivar is more than just a hostel or home—it is a place where champions are nurtured by design. The name Ram Parivar was given by the renowned headmaster, Smt. Durga Bhavani of Penamaluru PM Shri Zilla Parishad School, the first inclusive government school in Andhra Pradesh. She affectionately refers to her bright students with special needs as “the kids from Ram Parivar.” This is in recognition of Ram Kamal, the Managing Trustee of Chakshumathi, who has been leading the transformation of inclusive education under the SALT (Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation) project in the state.
Inspired by Durga Bhavani’s vision, Ram Parivar was conceived as an initiative to revolutionize education for children with special needs, utilizing digitally accessible pedagogy and fostering a sense of family and belonging. Around the same time, Chakshumathi was in the process of launching and promoting the Dr. T.V. Raman Experiential Computer Science Labs across NGOs, housing colonies, schools, and individual homes. This initiative was guided by the legendary computer scientist Dr. T.V. Raman, widely regarded as “the god of accessibility”, who has been the chief patron and advisor of Chakshumathi since its inception.

Ram Kamal and Dr. T.V. Raman are the driving forces behind Ram Parivar. Together, they envisioned it as a think tank dedicated to developing innovative methodologies and creating an ecosystem where children with special needs can thrive in mainstream education through cost-effective solutions.
